Laurens odds appeal over Happily bets among 2017 Fillies’ Mile tips

Cheltenham Bet’s 2017 Fillies’ Mile tips say take Lauren odds despite the presence of three Aidan O’Brien entries in this feature Newmarket contest on October 13.

2017 Fillies' Mile tips from Newmarket say back Laurens odds

Laurens has a progressive profile and looks decent value to land a cracking renewal of the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket on Friday (15:35).

The Karl Burke trained filly was an expensive purchase who landed a gamble on debut over 7f at Doncaster back in July when staying on strongly to beat Exhort by a neck.

Laurens was pitched into Group 3 company on the back of that taking display and ran a blinder when runner-up to the very highly-regarded Polydream in the Prix du Calvados over 7f at Chantilly.

The daughter of Siyouni kept on well to be beaten 1 3/4 lengths, despite showing distinct signs of greenness, and the front two pulled 2 1/2 lengths clear of the field.

Good attitude to land May Hill

Laurens has since resumed winning ways when showing a good attitude to land the Group 2 May Hill Stakes over 1m at Doncaster last month.

She kept on gamely to beat Dark Rose Angel by a neck and had the re-opposing Nyaleti a further head back in third.

I thought it was a terrific performance, as Laurens still looked far from the finished article.

This demands more, but she is clearly going the right way and looks an exciting prospect who should have plenty more to offer after just three starts.

Happily bets the pick of O’Brien trio

Aidan O’Brien launches a three-ponged attack on the race in his quest to go one step closer to beating trainer Bobby Frankel’s world record of 25 Group/Grade 1 winners in a calendar year.

Take on Happily bets with Laurens odds according to our 2017 Fillies’ Mile tips from Newmarket.

The Ballydoyle maestro saddles Happily, Magical and September, who all have toclass form in the book.

For me, Happily is the pick of his trio sent over from Ireland.

Fine effort against boys in Chantilly

The daughter of Galileo has won four of her six starts and shown improved form in each outing.

After digging deep and beat stable companion Magical by a short-head in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at The Curragh, Happily became the first filly in 31 years to land the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Chantilly on Arc day.

Connections made a bold decision to let her take on the colts in the 1m contest, and Happily did not let them down as she responded well for pressure to get up and beat Olmedo by 1 1/4 lengths.

    Form sets the standard

I thought the she won a shade cosily and was well on top at the finish.

She looks the type that only does what is required, has a really likeable attitude and desire to win.

Her form sets the standard in this, and Happily is sure to prove a tough nut to crack now pitched back against her own sex.

However, she has had some tough races of late; so, at the odds on offer, I am keen to take her on.
