Take Emaraaty odds over Expert Eye bets among 2017 Dewhurst Stakes tips
Cheltenham Bet’s 2017 Dewhurst Stakes tips from Newmarket say back Emaraaty odds instead of Expert Eye bets in the 7f juvenile contest on October 14.
Emaraaty created a huge impression when winning last time out, so looks worth a punt to turn over red-hot favourite Expert Eye in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday (15:00).
The colt was a 2.6 million guineas buy and is half-brother to dual Group 1 winner Izzi Top.
After shaping with bags of promise when a strong-finishing, tenderly-handled fourth from off the pace at Sandown when clearly too green to do himself justice, the John Gosden trained juvenile showed the benefit of that experience got off the mark in a 15-runner novice event at Newbury in style.
He tanked along throughout and drew clear from halfway to beat Magnificent by 2 1/4 lengths.
It was a breathtaking display as Emaraaty never had to come out of second gear to win on the bridle with any amount in hand.
He is cleary a horse with a huge future and the fact that Gosden has fast-tracked him straight into Group 1 company speaks volumes.
The Newmarket handler doesn’t like to rush his inmates, but clearly feels that Emaraaty is something special and up to the task even at this very early stage in his career.
Tempting price for Guineas glory
He is certianly bred in the purple, and the visual impression of his last win suggests Emaraaty is a top-notch prospect who is well worth a crack at this level.
The son of Dubawi is currently a tempting 16/1 with Paddy Power in the ante post betting for next year’s 2000 Guineas.
My advice is to have an investment in those Emaraaty odds, as they will be a distant thing of the past if he does do the business in this.
Expert Eye bets unappealing
Expert Eye is unbeaten in two starts, so heads the betting for this and next year’s 2000 Guineas.
Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, this son of Acclamation impressed last time out at Goodwood when showing a smart turn of foot to land the Group 2 Vintage Stakes by 4 1/2 lengths.
However, a dirty scope since means that he has missed intended engagements and he now has a 74-day absence to overcome.
That is far from ideal, despite the fact Stoute said earlier in the week that there would be “no excuses” with regards to his preparation for this.
He may well be the real deal but, at around 4/7 in the betting, he is far too short for me and has to be taken on.
